A Day in the Life of a Classical-Unschooler

Today the kids had a fairly active day. They went out to play in the morning, while I cleaned up the kitchen and such. Later on, right before dinner, we went out again. Above is Colette running around outside, having a great time!

We sat down and read:

Abeka Reader- Flag Day. It had a short quiz on the end, cummalative (multiple choice), they did pretty good!

I read-'Lucy Steps through the Wardrobe', -an adaptation from 'Chronicles of Narnia'. The kids really enjoyed this, so I told them we'd check out the complete book one day. For now, they really like stories wtih pictures.

I also read: 'The Pink Tulip', from 'Boys and Girls of Colonial Days', by-Carolyn Bailey. These are interesting stories!

We had checked out a book on turtles, and found the one that we saw on the lake! Rachel had gone outside, and even found the same turtle, on the same rock! It crawled off the rock and jumped into the water! She won't forget that. We found it was a 'Gopher turtle', by reading-

'Gopher Tortoises', by- Christopher Blomquist.
Sorry, I couldnt' find a link to this one...it's a good book for around grade 3, though!

Rachel practiced her algebra and Gracie worked on her subtraction. She seems to enjoy that better then addition! We also discovered 'Rock 'n' Learn' for Spanish. The kids 'loved it'! It's a shame our library doesn't have french as well... They have one for nearly every subject. We are on the waiting list for the 'Letter' one.

Rachel and Gracie both wrote their e-pals, and sent them funny pictures off google. They looked up dog and cats, and they were so cute and funny! Here is one of them-

Rachel recieved a coloring page link from one of her e-pals. Above the picture that she colored.

Happy Unschooling!!
****Keep checking, I am still in the process of transferring my links. I will also add more. I have a collection of books, and I plan to order them by grades. No more 'hunting down' those books. Come to my site, look through my list for books and you will no which one is 'age/grade appropriate' without waiting for the book from the library :) Can't get much easier then that!
